Cancer at Malibu, California High School.

Classes have been moved from Malibu High School to an adjoining school after twenty faculty members issued a letter to the school district saying that:

… three teachers had been recently diagnosed with stage 1 thyroid cancer, another three had thyroid problems, and seven suffered migraines. The letter also cited incidents of hair loss, rashes and bladder cancer.

“These teachers believe their health has been adversely affected as a result of working in our particular buildings at Malibu high school,” Katy Lapajne, a language arts teacher, wrote in the letter.

This school had soil contaminated by PCB’s removed in 2010. Testing for mold was conducted, and the school district declared “Tests show Malibu High mold not hazardous.” But the articles states that these a preliminary tests, and only some classrooms were tested for mold. And actually, the results showed the mold results “are similar to levels found outdoors with no unusual findings.” That begs the question of how high the mold levels are outdoors.

A day earlier, Sandra Lyon, the superintendent of the Santa Monica-Malibu unified school district, addressed the auditorium audience while media trucks waited outside. “You have heard serious and alarming allegations. These reports have mushroomed in our community.”

The school had begun testing for air and soil contamination last month, said Lyon. She apologised for not communicating that before the teachers’ letter forced the issue into the open, but said there was no evidence students were at risk. “We know they are safe, just as much as you know that your house is safe.”

Few seemed reassured. Questions rained down. Would inspectors test for radioactivity? Where was the mould? Was the water safe? Did inspectors have PhDs? How advanced were the cancer cases?

Several parents cited having children with cancer and other ailments, prompting Lucas, the mother of two students, to ask how many suffered migraines. The show of hands seemed to convince many of an epidemic.

Thyroid cancer and other thyroid diseases are caused by radioactive iodine. In fact, iodine-131 is used in thyroid ablation. This is used to destroy all remaining thyroid tissue for people who have had their thyroids completely removed due to thyroid cancer. “The purpose of Iodine-131 for thyroid ablation is to destroy all functioning thyroid tissue.”

Mangano and Sherman have found elevated levels of hypothyroidism among infants on the west coast after the meltdowns. High levels of iodine-131 in California kelp were also detected after Fuku.

Well, as documented here and at other sites, iodine-131 has been emitted from Fukushima Daiichi since March 2011, and it is continuing today. Hair loss and rashes are also a result of beta emitters like I-131.

Malibu High School is located one block from the Pacific Ocean.

People living within 20 kilometers of the coast are subject to breathing in sea spray. As related in a previous post,

Sea-to-land transfer has been observed and reported near the British Nuclear Fuels plc Sellafield Works, Cumbria, England, the Dounreay Nuclear Power Development Establishment, Caithness, Scotland and the reprocessing works at Cap de la Hague, Normandy, France. In Cumbria, where the effect has been most fully investigated, plutonium, americium and radiocaesium discharged to the Irish Sea from Sellafield have been observed many kilometres inland.

So plutonium, americium, and yes, cesium are found in sea spray which migrate 20 kilometers inland. This is bad news for people who live near the Pacific coast.

There is likely to be iodine-129 in the sea also, as 31 times more iodine-129 than iodine-131 was released from Fukushima. Iodine-129 has a half-life of 15 million years, so it is not going to decay away like I-131 did.

Of course, radioactive buckyballs are a problem too. These are geodesic dome-like configurations of uranium that have been produced at the plant, and travel on the surface of the ocean.

We have recently seen starfish turning to goo off the Atlantic coast of the US, the Pacific coast of Canada, and the Kamachatka Pacific coast of Russia. Also sea lions, sea urchins, sea snails, sockeye salmon, humpback whales, abalone, mussels, and coral reefs have all been affected. The sardine industry off Canada has completely collapsed. Not a single sardine was caught.

Now humans appear to be affected by the radioactive Pacific.

Also, I wanted to note that new data from Fukushima prefecture sludge shows that the amount of cesium has doubled in six months.

    • Seconded.

Quote: “Tests show Malibu High mold not hazardous.”

So, therefore i can infer that they did in fact detect mold.
Is it not astonishing, the moronically feckless attitude towards student (& teacher) health?

Noting that my BC (Bring Cash) Provincial health board considers a TSH reading of between 0.30 and 5.50 mU/L as normal.

Thyroxine (T4) production can also be inhibited by dopamine agonists, bexarotene, somatostatin analogues & glucocorticoids. (T3=triiodothyronine) High LDL Cholesterol is implicated (et al) with hypothyroidism, IIRC from earlier study.

Important thyroid nutrition involves: Iodine (stable & non-radioactive), Selenium, & Tyrosine (an ammino acid necessary for hormone prod.)

Related Symptoms: fatigue, difficulty concentrating, cold hands & feet/intolerance to cold, dry skin, high cholesterol, eczema, depression, difficulty getting up (sometimes into evening), insomnia, sudden swings in circadian rhythm, obstipation?, acne, night sweats, non-24 hour sleep-wake disorder

Check: fertility, heavy-metal toxicity, basal body temperature, goiter, inflammation

To the Reader: Bear in mind that i am not a doctor, unless you count witch doctor. (sarc.) 😛

Apologies; i have no links to back up these assertions, although i do feel for what these people (and many publicly uncounted others) are likely going through.

BTW, isn’t TSH time of day dependent?

  1. Thanks Bobby!
And this is just the start. I have found one brief article written by Vasilii Nesterenko with data from Belarus 8 years after Chernobyl. I have translated just the last part with the health data.( I am not sure what is the correct name of the institution which collected the data. May be it does not exist any more, or at least Internet search did not pick it):
According to Professor E.B.Burlakova ( RAS ) before the Chernobyl disaster there were 82 cases of diseases of the digestive system per 100,000 residents , after the effect of low doses of radiation during next 8 years they were 6100 ( an increase of more than 74 times) .

Dr. N.A.Gres (Belarusian Institute of Radiation Medicine ) as a result of endoscopic examinations of the digestive tract of 1,650 children from the contaminated areas of Gomel and Brest regions and 153 control children in the clean areas of the Vitebsk region revealed the presence of high levels of damages to the digestive tract in these children from the three toxicants ( cesium -137 , lead, nitrates) . These surveys have shown an increase in the frequency of atrophic gastritis (up 36.8 %). In such adverse environmental conditions during childhood a chronic pathology of the stomach has been developed, which is progressing rapidly with the development of atrophy and intestinal metaplasia . Typically, these phenomena are characteristic for the elderly. The identification of such pathology in children reflects the beginning of early aging .

According to the National Radiation Register and National Radoprotective Center(?) neoplasic malignancies per 100 thousand to were 13 until 1986 , and 8 years later they became 665 (an increase of 51 times) , infectious and parasitic diseases were 36, and became 414 (an increase of 11.5 times) , endocrine diseases were 96 , and grew to 4300 ( increased by ~ 45 times) , diseases of the blood and blood-forming organs was 15 , and became 218 (an increase of 14.5 times) , mental disorders were 621 , and reached 4930 (an increase of 8 times) , diseases of the nervous system and sense organs were 232 , and became 9890 (an increase of 43 times) , diseases of the circulatory system were 183 , and became 4250 ( an increase of nearly 23 times) , respiratory diseases were 645 , and became 7100 (an increase more than 11 times ) , diseases of the genitourinary system were 34 , and became 1410 (an increase of almost 40 times ) , diseases of the skin and subcutaneous tissue were 46 , and became 726 ( an increase of nearly 16 times)
May be it is more relevant for Japan, but the contamination speeds up now, so it might be helpful to know what to look for.And hopefully – to find more effective countermeasures.

  2. Good article, Bobby. I live in the Midwest, and until recently I worked in a bookstore. Fellow employees in the bookstore, both young and old, have cancer, thyroid problems and thyroid cancer, severe depression, and other health issues. I myself have what has been diagnosed as Neurocardiogenic Syncope, which is an autonomic failure of the Sympathetic Nervous System. All this is accepted as normal by everyone I know. Our 30-something manager had lung cancer and had never smoked. My three best friends have all had cancer and did not smoke or drink. My own son thinks this is normal. It is not surprising really, I suppose, since it IS normal for anyone in the current generation. We are taught that mankind learns from generation to generation. I have not found or seen any evidence of this.

    • Thanks, Weez and everyone. Cancer and other breakdowns in our bodies are “the new normal” now… it will be attributed to the fallibility of the human organism, rather than to radioactive contamination of our bodies. Which is the whole point of nuclear propaganda effort of the last 70 years.

      • I also believe there is a lot of cancers and other illnesses being caused by the use of microwave ovens. Do your research on them, and then throw yours out !

Never been a study done in the west on the dangers of microwave cooking….go figure!

  3. They have destroyed California, one of the most beautiful places on earth, home to the world’s 12th largest economy.

They have destroyed all of the United States, as plutonium, uranium, etc. have been turned into gases, and are carried far and wide, everywhere downwind.

“It was about 5,000ºC [~9,000ºF] inside the reactors. This was a temperature of colossal magnitude. The uranium and plutonium took on a gas form to escape. I can find all that based on my calculations, but none of this can be detected using a Geiger counter”

Plutonium made it as far as Lithuania. We should plot our way out of the Northern Hemisphere. Nuclear testing data suggests that the Southern Hemisphere and equatorial regions get a fraction of the fallout in the Northern Hemisphere. The losses are unimaginable.

Please evacuate the children in Fukushima! The levels of radiation have spiked yet the evacuation zone remains the same. Their gas chamber is the most deadly of all.

  4. One block from the ocean …

Scientists are now concerned about another Fukushima related phenomenon that appears to be invading the U.S. West Coast – buckyballs.
Buckyballs refers to uranium-filled nanospheres which were created from the millions of tons of fresh and salt water used to try to cool down the three molten cores of Fukushima’s stricken reactors.
The tiny, stout buckyballs have been formed when water hit the super-heated, primarily uranium-oxide, fuel in the damaged reactors at Fukushima. Buckyballs are formed, loaded with uranium and able to move quickly through water without disintegrating.
Worse, radiation readings in L.A. and Santa Monica during a 42-day period between December 2011 and January 2012, strongly suggest that radiation is increasing in the region including along the coast in Ventura County and readings the Environmental Protection Agency took appeared to indicate the unnatural presence of radiation.
Southern California is still getting hit by Fukushima radiation at alarmingly high levels that will inevitably increase as the main bulk of polluted Pacific Ocean water reaches North America over the next two years.
Radiation levels at both the Los Angeles and Santa Monica sites are about 5.3 times the norm. The Santa Monica site transmits radiation readings to the L.A. Basin area 24/7.
The radioactive buckyballs were hearty and potentially able to “transport uranium over long distances,” being stable and consistent in the absence of peroxide.
While experts in the mainstream media debate whether any toxic levels of radiation are already bombarding the U.S. West Coast or if it is on its way, what is known is that radiation, in some forms, has already made it to American waters. reported May 30 that tuna caught off California’s coastline contained higher-than-normal levels of radiation.
It’s become clear that some people feel that any amount of radioactivity, in their minds, is bad and they’d like to avoid it.
Researchers found higher levels of two radioactive isotopes of the cesium element, 137 – which was present in the eastern Pacific before the disaster at Fukushima Daiichi – and 134, which is caused only by manmade activities and wasn’t present before the tsunami smashed into the plant..

    • Not that long ago it was taken as a given that ANY amount of radiation was potentially harmful–hence the great caution still taken in dental offices, radiology offices, etc. Of course, the risk is even greater if the radiation is inhaled or–gasp–eaten.
Shortly after the Fukushima disaster, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in the USA (and thereafter, the EPA and other Federal regulatory agencies) stopped monitoring routine “background” radiation, as well as other types of incoming radiation; at the same time, an agreement was signed with the Japanese government not to monitor radiation in imported fish (thanks, Hillary). The latter was just rescinded. The former remain in place.
One can access private maps of radiation penetration by Googling. and remain great sources. My blessings to you all. I leave for Tokyo for a month myself very shortly. It is a city whose people and country I care for greatly, and it will be my first visit there when I will be utterly preoccupied with what I am breathing and ingesting, and not in a good way, for the Paris of Asia.

  5. Mold has been ruled out as the cause. This makes the case for demanding EPA specific radiation tests immediately. Iodine, among cesium, strontium and more has been released daily by Fukushima into the ocean and air. We are a direct recipient of the Pacific Northwest Jet Stream. People wake up and demand action from the government. TEPCO cannot resolve Fukushima without global assistance.

  6. just last month i told my daughter i was coming home to live in california. i learned too much this month. florida? chile? mars? people are making fun of me for being paranoid or they say what radiation or chernobyl was much worse or nagasaki is alive again.

  7. Thanks for the article Bobby. I live in Ventura County and have been struggling with hypothyroidism for several years. I would encourage anyone experiencing the symptoms not to rely on the common blood tests for their diagnosis. These are notoriously inaccurate predictors. I had to go to a specialist to get an accurate diagnosis. I do know that my problems occured after I was exposed to mold at a “health” resort. It took more than two years to clear the mold and feel better and then the thyroid symptoms began- had no idea that there was a connection!

    • chaarenne, radiation promotes the growth of mold and fungi. Also fungi concentrate radioactive and other toxins in them to a very high degree.

  8. The next leg of the long voyage was from Osaka to San Francisco and for most of that trip the desolation was tinged with nauseous horror and a degree of fear.

“After we left Japan, it felt as if the ocean itself was dead,” Macfadyen said.

“We hardly saw any living things. We saw one whale, sort of rolling helplessly on the surface with what looked like a big tumour on its head. It was pretty sickening.

“I’ve done a lot of miles on the ocean in my life and I’m used to seeing turtles, dolphins, sharks and big flurries of feeding birds. But this time, for 3000 nautical miles there was nothing alive to be seen.”

    • Non-ionizing radiation from wifi, cellphones and smart meters is also an issue. Combining ionizing and non-ionizing radiation may be worse than the sum of the parts.

        • The contention is that Microwave EMF’s cause genetic damage very similar to ionizing radiation. Also, there are many other effects.

Water is apparently very favorable for the absorption of Microwave Photons.
This is the main reason that it does indeed affect people, as we are made up of mostly water.

Just try to tell anybody with a pacemaker that microwave radiation cannot hurt you. I double-dog dare you!
Microwave radiation can potentially kill a person with a pacemaker by disrupting it’s function.

I have often wondered if Microwave Radiation could be absorbed by Radionuclides, yet it would seem that would depend upon the absorption spectra of each particular element. Metallic elements should be good at Microwave Photon capture.

Thereby, there should be some radionuclide species that TEmPCo has “popularized” that would indeed absorb Microwave radiation. It should not have any influence in decay rates though. However; it potentially could make such substances more reactive.

What substance was it you advised staying away from to avoid bioabsorbtion of plutonium, Bobby1?

          • I think I said iron should help. Plutonium is similar to iron, so an iron deficiency is bad. I get it from a mulltivitamin. It helps a little.

Clay absorbs plutonium, so Aztec clay removes plutonium from the skin. It’s probably a good idea. Some people eat the clay too, but it contains aluminum, so I don’t do that… autoimmune disease.

  9. Excellent article….I heard about this on mainstream media the other day…I think it was CNN…they never mentioned Fukushima as a possible cause of the thyroid problems/cancers. They are not going to be able to hide reality much longer. Thanks for all you do Bobbby1, you always impress.

  10. Approximately 50 students at Malibu High School have enrolled in an independent study program since a health scare was reported at the school nearly two weeks ago, according to Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District officials.

Students were given the independent study option last week.

The students will be home-schooled and submit their work Fridays by 2:30 p.m., district officials told The Malibu Times, while the district continues to test environmental quality at the school.

  11. Please read Dr. Sam Milham’s book
“dirty Electricity”. The EMF, RF radiation of the
school environment should be checked by an
environmental engineer or electrician who can measure
the levels of toxic fields in the school.Dr. Milham also
has a web page, videos avail on the internet. He references
toxic schools causing cancer in his book . A must read!

      • PS: A pocket AM radio can give one an unscientific means to detect more egregious emitters of EMF. Simply tune in to a strong station away from any electric/electronic emissions, then move it towards the apparatus under study.

Note that time of day and proximity to windows can have an influence. AM stations are generally stronger at night, and home insulation can absorb signal.

LCD’s are great emitters, as are microwave ovens, portable phones and WiFi.
Infrared remote controls sound cool though.

I thought once that a stainless fridge would shield me, yet my AM radio proved that theory totally wrong, at least according to my very repeatable unscientific method.

As in external alpha, beta and gamma radiation, Distance is a primary shield.
Intensity is inversely proportional to the square of distance.
        (Inverse-Square Law:

“Science is the belief in the ignorance of the experts” – Richard Feynman

        • However: No amount of EMF should have the propensity to cause Thyroid Cancer, AFAIK.

Quote of Above Article by Bobby1:
“… three teachers had been recently diagnosed with stage 1 thyroid cancer, another three had thyroid problems, and seven suffered migraines. The letter also cited incidents of hair loss, rashes and bladder cancer.”

Why those symptoms, except perhaps the bladder cancer, concur with symptoms of radiological poisoning, do they not?

The bladder cancer is curious. What was in those lunches, GMO soda pop?
I am not familiar with bladder cancer as it relates to internal radioisotopic trauma.
          Is that where uranyl-buckminsterfullerene lodges?

          • Yablokov book, p. 182:

In the heavily contaminated Gomel Province there was a marked increase in the number of cases of intestinal, colon, breast, bladder, kidney, and lung cancers, and the occurrences correlated with the level of Chernobyl contamination…

            • So sending these kids home for schooling could be a death sentence.

Doctor Yamashita seems a candidate for encephalopathy research.
You can easily tell him apart from others in a crowded Macabre theater.
He will be the one smiling inappropriately!

              d’oh 🙁

  12. After seeing the video that shows all the nuclear explosions that happened on Earth since 1945 I see things differently. The feared nuclear holocaust happened…and the US and Russia did it all to themselves. California has experienced “experimental” nuclear explosions consistently since the early ’50’s. No wonder they can’t (won’t) measure the radiation of Fukushima in north america…the background radiation must be so high! On a happier note for some, California went on to produce hippies, radical professors…it started to explode with social energy. Perhaps radiation has more than death and sickness to offer?

  13. I want to put something out there that has been bothering me….years ago, beofore I was well aquainted with California, I swore I watched a documentary, or a news story about radioactive land in the Malibu Hills, that they were selling to people to build their houses on, perhaps contaminated landfill….at the time it seemed shocking, but now when I search for such a thing, I cannot find it….Am I crazy or did the local gov provide one big cover up to any radioactive activity in the Malibu region? Does anyone else remember this?
